HOW IT WORKS

Keys worth knowing

Functions open a bracket. Press sin, type 30, press =, and the bracket closes for you.

Ans recalls the last result. M+, M− and MR add to, subtract from and recall the memory, and clicking the M badge clears it.

EXP enters scientific notation: 2 EXP 3 is 2000. RND inserts a random number between 0 and 1.

ORDER OF OPERATIONS

What gets done first

Brackets, then powers and roots, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. Powers group from the right, so 2^3^2 is 2^9, and a leading minus applies after the power, so −2^2 is −4.

QUESTIONS

Scientific calculator FAQ

How do I switch between degrees and radians?

Use the Deg and Rad switch above the keys. The sin, cos and tan keys and their inverses follow the mode you choose, and the screen shows DEG or RAD so you always know which one is active.

How does the y√x key work?

Type the number, press y√x, then type the root. For example 27 y√x 3 = 3, the cube root of 27. For the common roots you can also use the √x and 3√x keys directly.

What does the % key do?

It divides the number before it by 100, so 50% is 0.5 and 200 × 10% is 20.

Can I use my keyboard?

Yes. Click the calculator once, then type digits, + - * / ^ ( ) ! % and the decimal point. Enter or = calculates, Backspace deletes, Escape clears, and P inserts pi.

How accurate are the results?

It uses standard double-precision arithmetic, shows up to 12 significant digits and removes tiny binary rounding errors, so 0.1 + 0.2 shows 0.3. Factorials work for whole numbers from 0 to 170, and results that are too large or not real numbers are reported instead of shown wrongly.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded.
